Visual Communications Work

Personal Identity Mark

One of the most important projects I completed on my technical communication journey would have to be my personal identity mark, or unique ‘logo’ of my name and initials to create uniformity across the platforms I share my work on. My work on this began with rough sketches on paper and then progressed to digital mockups in Adobe Illustrator. After these mockups were reviewed by my peers, I structurally tweaked my designs and chose my favorite to apply color to. Wanting to convey the creative process I took to achieve this final product, I chose to use one of the most creative (and my personal favorite) colors, purple. Not only did this project give me an invaluable resource to use alongside all my work, it allowed me to demonstrate my ability to adapt to new technologies as well as utilize criticism constructively. Typography Poster

For this fun piece, I was given basic details about an upcoming event that I was to then turn into an advertisement poster. The event happened to be about typography, making that a crucial subject to keep in mind when developing this poster. Rough paper sketches were once again my starting point so I could get a general overview of the layout I wanted. I quickly moved over to Adobe Illustrator to explore some font options I had downloaded from a free font website. Once I settled on a contemporary selection, I tapped into my knowledge of color theory to round out the final poster. Typography selection and hierarchy can be hard tricks to master, but I’d like to think that this poster nicely demonstrates my aptitude for the concepts. Website Visual Redesign

In order to demonstrate an understanding of space and layout, I was tasked with redesigning an unsightly children’s juice website homepage in a manner that respected not only these concepts, but other visual communication principles such as color and typography selection as well. After taking note of what elements of the original website worked and did not work, I sketched some desktop and mobile wireframes on paper. Having constructed my base, I took to Adobe Illustrator and began layering in text and images, keeping things playful via the use of bright colors since the website advertises products for children. I believe this project demonstrates proficiency in several technical communication concepts but especially highlights my mastery of color, from theory to placement.
